How to Start the Workload
After logging in to Microsoft Fabric, navigate to Workloads in the left sidebar to find the IntuigenceAI workload.
Open the Workloads page
In the left sidebar, click Workloads. Locate IntuigenceAI (preview) and click Learn more.
Open the workload
Click Open in the "Get Started" panel. Select your workspace with a valid Fabric capacity.
Create a Data Catalog
Create a Data Catalog item to store and index your plant files (P&IDs, documents, timeseries).
Create an Intelligent Board

Creating a Data Catalog
A Data Catalog is the foundation of your IntuigenceAI deployment. It acts as a Knowledge Graph that stores and indexes all industrial files your AI workers will reference.
How to create a Data Catalog
From the workload detail page, click Data Catalog under Item Types. Fill in the creation dialog:

Supported file types
-
1P&ID — Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
Upload PDF or image-format P&ID sheets. The AI will automatically extract equipment tags, line numbers, and connections.
-
2Timeseries — Operational Data (Excel / CSV)
Upload timeseries data exported from your historian or process control system. Supports
.xlsxand.csvformats. -
3Document — General Documents
Upload equipment manuals, SOPs, maintenance records, and other non-P&ID PDFs. PAM will cite these in its answers.
File status
-
✓Success
The file has been fully indexed and is available to PAM for querying and citation.
-
⏳In progress
The file is still being processed. Large or complex P&IDs may take additional time. Refresh the page to check the latest status.
Document Viewer
Click any file in the Data Catalog to open it in the built-in Document Viewer. The viewer shows the original document on the left and AI-extracted content on the right across five tabs.

Displays the AI-structured extraction of the document, showing sections, key specs, and entities identified from the file.
- 2Extractions
Shows raw extracted fields and key-value pairs pulled from the document by the AI engine.
- 3Raw
The full unstructured text extracted from the document, useful for debugging or manual review.
- 4Summary
A concise AI-generated summary of the document's key contents and purpose.
- 5Details
Metadata including file size, upload date, processing status, and catalog linkage information.
Analyzing P&ID Diagrams
P&ID files tagged as P&ID open in a dedicated diagram viewer with pan and zoom controls. The AI engine automatically parses the diagram to extract equipment tags, instrument loops, and pipe connections for use by PAM.
Once a P&ID is indexed successfully, PAM can answer questions such as:
- What are the upstream and downstream connections of equipment tag
HX-301? - Which instruments are on line
6"-CS-3021? - List all pressure indicators on this P&ID sheet.
Intelligent Board
The Intelligent Board is an interactive canvas where your team collaborates with AI workers. It displays your connected data assets as visual nodes and provides a real-time chat panel with AI agents.
Creating an Intelligent Board
New Intelligent Board
Board canvas & AI chat
After creation, the board shows your linked Data Catalog files as draggable nodes on a canvas. The AI Plant Support Engineer chat panel opens on the right.
Hi! I'm the AI Plant Support Engineer. How can I help you keep your units running safely and on-spec today?
- 1Canvas nodes
Each file from your linked Data Catalog appears as a node (P&ID or Document). You can drag, annotate, and arrange them on the canvas.
- 2Mentioning agents
Type
@in the chat input to mention a specific AI worker directly, such as@ai-plant-support-engineer. - 3Add / Remove Files
Use the Add / Remove Files button (top right of the board) to manage which Data Catalog files are active in the current session.
- 4Canvas toolbar
The left toolbar provides tools for selection, panning, zoom, adding notes, drawing, shapes, text annotations, and comment threads.
AI Plant Support Engineer (PAM)
PAM is the primary AI worker available inside the Intelligent Board. PAM has access to your indexed Data Catalog and answers complex operational questions with grounded citations.
What you can ask PAM
Grounded Responses & Source Citations
Every answer PAM gives is grounded — traceable back to your own industrial data. Each response includes citations in the format:
